Andok's is a Filipino fast food chain that specializes in serving lechon manok (Filipino spit-roasted chicken). Founded in the Philippines, it has locations across the country.

History

Leonardo "Sandy" Javier Jr., an entrepreneur and later a politician,[1] founded the first Andok's branch on West Avenue in Quezon City in 1985. After observing lechon manok in Pampanga, he believed they were not preparing it correctly. He remarked "Too fast, the juices were coming out too quick," and thought to himself he could make it better.

Initially, he faced challenges, having borrowed 12 chicks from an acquaintance of his mother, but sold only 2 of those chickens in his first attempt at the business. Javier sold to his customers on the fact that they were making a purchase from an Atenean and the brother of singer Danny Javier.

To promote the business, he installed a prominent, vibrant yellow signage, from which the color is now part of the branding for the roasted chicken shop. Later on, his small stall in Quezon City expanded its daily inventory to 80 chickens.[2][3]

Over time, Andok's menu evolved to include a variety of dishes such as pork chop, sinigang, fried chicken, Bicol Express, and desserts. The business further expanded its presence beyond Metro Manila, opening more than 10 stores in the Visayas within two years.[3]

Javier Jr.'s father, Leonardo Sr., was known by the nickname "Andok". It was Sandy's promise to his dying father to name his business after him.[2]
